It was cold and it was windy on Amanda and Isiah’s wedding day, but inside the church, the couple's deep-rooted love radiated throughout. To many, this day as a long time coming. They saw the ceremony as the true celebration rather than the reception. This wedding was different. This wedding was all about commitment.
Now, I know what you are thinking - "Aren't all weddings about commitment?" I would say yes. Husband and wives commit their lives to each other every at every wedding ceremony. But at how many weddings do the bride and groom commit not only to each other but to God?
Isiah’s Stepfather, married the couple and also presented the Gospel during the ceremony. Being a Christian all my life, I thought I had heard it all, but I had never heard the Gospel preached this way before. It was raw, honest and life changing.
The sermon was about Christ dying on the cross for us; because of his sacrifice we have a reason to live everyday. We have a reason to get out of bed every day and share our gifts with the world. Enjoy the blessing of each new day, live each day thankfully and gratefully. Do not live in the past or take life for granted.
At how many weddings has the Gospel sermon literally changed a life? The message really hit home with my second shooter. She inwardly reflected on her life and I witnessed her open up to God's goodness. She said it was almost like the weight was lifted off her shoulders. This doesn’t happen at many weddings at all.
I reflected on the sermon and realized that I could do better in living each day fully.
Matthew 18:20 reads, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Christ's presence was certainly felt at this wedding ceremony and you couldn’t help but worship.
Amanda and Isiah, thank your for inspiring others with your love and powerful ceremony. I know for some your wedding was a day they can mark on their calendar that they were inspired to change their lives and live in Christ.
